North Beach at the Golden Hour
Dipping towards the horizon, the sun still has so much power this evening and it's such a comfortable temperature. Feet sinking in to warm, fine sand, the sound of waves enticing, I walk down through the bush that separates the beaches along this coast from the manmade.
The on shore breeze known locally as the Freemantle Doctor is strong, pushing wave after powerful wave on to the beach, I'm reminded that this ocean and so very different to the shores which are my home. The long beach sweeps up the coast and it's what I imagine Australia to be but as I find my way further up I come across outcrops of limestone, so unexpected with their extraordinary contorted folds and hoary dinosaur sculptures harking back to their prehistoric roots when the ocean covered so much more of this land.
I have an odd mix of emotions flowing across me, with great excitement at exploring somewhere new and vibrant mixed with a deep contentment at connecting with the natural world. This is the first Perth beach I've photographed, there will be more but for now I've enjoyed North Beach and it's unexpected treasures.
