Day 146

Supermoon seen across the Wick

Supermoon seen across the Wick

Sunday 13th November

There's only one word for today, Supermoon. Tomorrow the moon will be at it's closest point since January 1948 but it's forecast to be cloudy and from a photography perspective, today is the best day with sunset and moonrise coinciding.

We headed out on to the sea wall looking out across the Wick at sunset but didn't really know where the moon was going to rise. I know that sounds daft, but there was a thick layer of cloud on the horizon and it wasn't until around 20 minutes after moonrise that it finally made an appearance. It did look pretty spectacular rising over Mersea Island and went a wonderful orangey red colour. I'm glad we made the effort, it would have been so easy to just let it pass by.
