Day 154

Jewellers, Chelmsford

Jewellers, Chelmsford

Monday 21st November

Something amazing happened today, which lifted my spirits. Sadly I lost a colleague at work earlier this year. Paralysed from the chest down and in a motorised wheel chair for 40years, Chris was one of the gentlest and kindest people you could meet. A man of great integrity and one of the best IT system analysts I've worked with. His health had deteriorated over the past couple of years and back in January he was admitted to hospital with kidney failure. He spent the next few months in intensive care but finally lost his battle. Throughout he drew quietly on his faith and was totally calm, helping all of us around him to come to terms with his situation. A man few of us will forget. Today I received a gift from Chris through his carer, and it touched me greatly. Thanks Chris and I hope, wherever you are, that you're still enjoying watching the Springboks over a pint.
