Well what a great night. Tollesbury Photographic Group has just hit 2017 with a bang. A whole bunch of new members and a hall full of people all enjoying taking portrait photos.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to focus on taking a single picture at TPG nights as I'm so busy setting up and then helping other people that I don't get a chance to experiment. Tonight I knew exactly what picture I wanted to take and I'd worked out lighting and pose etc … I just didn't have a model. Ian had come along to our open night and when I realised he'd come back this month, I knew that he would be perfect. I set up 2 large softboxes without the diffusion panels for maximum specular light, stood Ian in between so the light would pick up every last bit of detail, wide open aperture and boom, there's my picture. I've wanted to try this out for a long time and I'm really pleased with the result. That's another one off the bucket list.
