Day 218
Stars over Tollesbury
Tuesday 24th January 2017
I started out for work this morning, but on turning out of our driveway the car protested with a massive BOING! So it was off to the village garage; one of the front springs had gone. On the plus side, another day in Tollesbury is always a good thing. Problems at work again today, this week is turning out to be a pretty challenging.
We have such clear skies in Tollesbury, the stars are so much brighter than from central Brentwood with it's horrendous light pollution. I'm not sure whether the moon is on the wain or just new, odd not to know, but it does mean that the skies are very dark at the moment. So it was out with the tripod and the cable release, balance the shutter speed and ISO so that I don't have too much noise but can keep the shutter speed relatively short, finally find a patch of stars that aren't affected by the distant light pollution.
Jack's eyesight had deteriorated so badly that he found it almost impossible to see the stars. He would still try and then reminisce about how bright the stars were in Australia or Italy, or during the blackout in the War. We are so lucky to be able to experience this.
