Day 245

Chelsmford

Chelsmford

Monday 20th February 2017

Nothing doing with the light this morning, just overcast and grey. I walked out of the office tonight not knowing what I would photograph, just trusting that I'd come across something in the city. As I descended the steps from the office, I took a shot across the street to check exposure and, well, that was my shot. Funny how we don't notice things that are under our nose. Charity shops have proliferated in recent years on high streets around the country and with the rise in the Eastern European population in East Anglia, we've also seen quite a number of Eastern European shops opening up. Add a guy with a skateboard and that's pretty much a depiction of modern Chelmsford.

The roller shutters over the shop fronts add lateral movement to the shot, you can't help but read this from left to right, and I love the office windows above, the regular pattern which slightly jars with the rest of the image adding that bit of anxiety, not letting the eye fully settle.
