Day 181

Berberis in our garden

Sunday 18th December

Lots of scanning this morning to get my black and white shots ready for this week's posts and it was a tale of two pictures. The first was stubborn and I just couldn't get the tones right but the second shot was a piece of cake. The difference between the two was very clear, quality of light. The other issue is my lack of experience in manipulating scanned film images.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sorting out final jobs around the garden before the winter really kicks in and it feels good to finally be done with the jobs outside. We still have some highlights in the garden and one of them is a small Berberis, whose leaves are really flaring right now; perfect for today's picture. It was shot just before sunset in a very shady spot under trees, so the light was very soft but with dense shadows.
