Day 191

Boat moored off Mersea Island

Boat moored off Mersea Island

Wednesday 28th December

I shredded the left over Turkey ready for freezing today so we can make Turkey and Ham pies in the coming weeks; something that Laura suggested earlier in the year. A trip to the garden centre to buy plants for a large bed at the top of the drive, a quick toasted tea cake and then it was off to Mersea Island.

We were slightly late for the setting sun which was spectacular but it was the after glow that I was really wanting to capture. No two visits are the same, with the changing light and of course the tide, which today was low and receding. We headed around to the beach to get closer to the water which was so still and there was almost no breeze at all, such a rarity. A lot of people were out for a late afternoon walk, with children and dogs; Mersea is a such a happy place, something special and we're lucky that it's just around the corner from Tollesbury. We're going to come over to Mersea more in 2017 and maybe borrow a beach hut from friends for the day.
