Day 273

Tollesbury

Tollesbury

Monday 20th March 2017

I left the office a little earlier than usual and as I drove back in to Tollesbury the sun moved through a thin sliver of sky between the thick cloud layer and the horizon. At the right time of year the sun sets at the end of a long straight track and I stopped here to check it out; no luck, the sun was too far to the south. As I drove in to the village I could see the vivid orange glow over a set of farm buildings, great picture. I pulled over a little further up the road and started to walk back towards the barns. I didn't make it any more than about 5 feet from the car when my picture for today presented itself. I love the orange glow, the strong geometric shapes and the cool blue/grey skies. Everything in the picture leads you to one point, the setting sun.

I shot my picture above wide open at f1.8 as usual, but I know what happens in this situation when you stop down to say f11 … starburst!
