Equinox!

So here I am, three quarters of the way through my project. It's become such a part of life and it's pretty amazing to be this connected with my photography. I really don't have to think too hard each day to find a shot and we are so lucky with the diversity of our county from city to sea. It's made me think about what I've experienced so far and also maybe what projects lie ahead after I reach mid-summer. I haven't used film anywhere near as much as I had intended and I know that's partly because I'm so familiar with how my digital cameras will render a scene and how to develop the pictures to produce the image I pre-visualised. I don't have that familiarity with film and in needing to get a shot each day that I'm happy to publish, digital just wins out. By comparison I feel that I have to spend some quality time to shoot film. So what have I learned? Well it's going to sound simple. To find a photo each day, something that I'm happy with and something that's attractive, look for the light. However dramatic or subtle, it's great light that will lift a photo and it doesn't matter whether it's natural or artificial.

Today I travelled to London for a meeting with one of my vendors in Islington. I used to work up at the Angel and it was good to be back for a while. After the meeting I jumped on the Tube and headed down to Piccadilly, quick visit to Fortnum's, and then walked down toThe Mall, to Horse Guards, on to Whitehall, past Downing Street, in to Parliament Square and then on to Westminster Bridge. It was a beautiful sunny evening, the square and bridge packed with tourists. I got some really good pictures today and, although I've had a difficult few weeks at work, I felt relaxed. London is truly a beautiful city, I couldn't live there but I can't imagine not being able to spend time wandering it's streets.
