Day 301

Woodrolfe Hard, Tollesbury

Woodrolfe Hard, Tollesbury

Monday 17th April 2017

I'm not actually sure what happened to today, it disappeared in blur of gardening. Before I knew it the light was fading outside and I needed to find a shot pretty quickly, so it was another trip to my saviour of this project, Woodrolfe Hard. It's 2 minutes in the car and you could photograph there every day for a year and still have plenty of shots spare.

The sun was setting behind clouds as I was searching or my shot. I'm fascinated by this old boat and have taken a bunch of pictures of it over this year, one of which has featured in this project. Today I noticed the light glancing across the hull, picking out the many years this little boat has witnessed. This type of simple, symmetrical shot is very captivating but it's the light that elevates it and the shallow depth of field which just adds a touch of extra atmosphere.

This is not a radical composition, there's nothing remotely controversial about the shot. It's quiet, unassuming and although colourful, the colours are subtle. Yet the stories this boat could tell must be legion, they draw you in and here it is now, waiting once again, for some tender loving care to revive it for the next chapter in it's tale.
