Day 300
Our Garden
Sunday 16th April 2017
Thankfully my cold has started to ease and I was able to get back out in to the garden again today. Towards the end of the day I noticed that two of our Parrot Tulips had collapsed and would imminently die; such a shame as they are just the maddest of flowers and truly beautiful. So I did the only thing a photographer can do, take a picture. I lay then on the wooden steps next to which they were growing, positioned myself so the flowers were backlit with the fading light, low angle to make the most of the light and to accentuate the shallow depth of field. And there you have it, a flower portrait but not one that is just descriptive, instead intimate, a moment in time before the beauty is lost.
On a slightly different note, it's day 300 and in the annual calendar it's just another day. It's no milestone, 82.19% of the way through this project, nothing that makes it any different from yesterday or tomorrow, yet it's odd that in this decimal world in which we live, 300 seems so significant.
