Day 321
East Leake
Sunday 7th May 2017
Up to Mum & Dads today to sort out a bunch of jobs around their garden. It was a sunny day in East Leake and the sunshine was warm. Dad is doing particularly well at the moment, which is so good to see.
I've wanted to get up on to the railway bridge at the end of Mum & Dad's road for so many years. The line runs passed their garden and is mainly used by a heritage railway these days. The bridge is actually two bridges, side by side and it's bounded on either side by metal railings in a cross pattern, very much early 20th century. On top of the bridge is the old railway platform and in the middle of that is a set of railings around the gap between the bridges, a square hole in the middle of the platform. I just love the strong pattern and the sense of bygone days on this lost platform. What stories could this place tell, what lives has it witnessed?
