Day 214
Tobacconist, Ipswich
Friday 20th January 2017
So it was off to Ipswich today to the County Court for Doff to swear an oath as part of applying for probate. I can't get my head around what the probate office actually do. I understand what HMRC are doing in checking inheritance tax liabilities, but probate? All they seem to want is a copy of the Will and for you to swear an oath about as legally binding as the Cub Scout Promise. That's it, nothing else, except for a small fee of course. Anyway, end of rant.
We had to cross a frozen Abberton Reservoir on our way to Ipswich, we used the causeway but the birds were looking really confused standing on the frozen surface. More odd than this sight though was the presence of an old tobacconists in Ipswich; I haven't seen one of these for years. Even the iconic tobacconists next to Chancery Lane tube station, which features on the packet of Old Hoborn is now a mobile phone shop.
