Day 215

Blackwater near Goldhanger

Blackwater near Goldhanger

Saturday 21st January 2017

Fed the birds today; they are going through food so quickly at the moment and given the cold weather we need to ensure they don't run out. I sorted out a few jobs at home and then we went for a walk along Goldhanger Creek.

Fiery red sun and wonderful colours after the sun had dropped below the horizon. I have had problems developing some pictures recently of a similar sunset. The colours came out almost neon and totally unrealistic. Guess what, that's exactly how they were this evening. Pink, purple, gold, almost metallic, I think this must have something to do with the mud in the Blackwater. We saw a huge skene of geese fly in, I've never seen so many geese together, quite amazing sight and what a noise. When they landed, the neon water surface was disturbed, almost like glacial rock flour but in reverse. Small pools of normal blue/green water could be seen around the birds.

We saw Rogue 1 in Colchester this evening. Great Star Wars movie, in a different league to the prequels and the recent Episode 7.
