Day 293

Totem, Tollesbury

Totem, Tollesbury

Sunday 9th April 2017

Today summer arrived, blue skies, no clouds at all and even the breeze was warm. Temperatures hit around 21c, although I'm sure it was several degrees warmer than that in our garden. I had the first barbecue of the year, sundried tomato burger and our butchers sausages, some tomato and rosemary focaccia with balsamic vinegar. Just one thing missing, my wife, who is enjoying time with Ashley and Carly exploring the environs around Karatha.

I walked down to the sea wall for sunset this evening, it's been a while since I've made the time. It was glorious, bathed in sunshine and even after the sun dipped below the horizon the air was still warm. Wonderful day in Tollesbury all round.

I found two picture tonight that I really love, both featuring that tree again. As I reached the sea wall, with the sun behind me, my shadow fell forward towards the rising moon. A self-perfect portrait, about the person but not of the person. I spent some time looking for different pictures of the old tree. The scars of it's life obvious now that I look more closely, almost like a North American Totem conveying the story of this changing landscape.
