Day 295
Holybred Wood, Little Baddow
Tuesday 11th April 2017
I pass Holybred Wood, a small set of woods in Little Baddow and I've been trying to figure out how I would use it in this project. Not much going on through the winter months but this morning I noticed a blue haze under a canopy of emerging green leaves; it's Bluebell time! So I stopped on the way home to take a look. Gentle evening sun filtering through the trees, not a breath of wind and just the sounds of song birds for company. It was so relaxing after a hectic day and I took some time just to walk through the woods and soak up the sight before settling on my picture for the day.
I love really vibrant shots of Bluebells almost monochrome in with the blue of the flowers and the greens of the bluebell foliage and the new leaves on the trees. Today however, I was looking for something a little more subtle, painterly, that comes from shooting wide open on a fast 50mm lens. I wanted to invest my picture with a sense of calm, a relaxed moment, out of time from the busy world.
