Day 306

Woodrolfe Pool, Tollesbury

Woodrolfe Pool, Tollesbury

Saturday 22nd April 2017

Another digger day today and I got the main area levelled off and the footing dug for the paving around the greenhouse.  Slower progress than planned but I'm getting there.

I managed to get to the Hard for the very last of the setting sun tonight. I've attempted to take this photo a few times and it's never quite been right, but tonight, with the reflection of the bright red clouds and a change of texture across the water, I knew I had my shot. I could stare at this picture for hours; I find it endlessly fascinating. I tried to explain to a good friend some months ago that I was striving towards taking photographs of almost nothing, subtle tones or colours rather than things; this pool of light comes pretty close to that level of abstraction. I suspect this is likely to be one of those shots that polarises opinion, either you love it or it leaves you cold.

I love it, hugely.
